Will I be locked into paying DACT every time I need to add or remove a user?
No. Every access control and intercom system we install includes simple admin access so you can add family mem
bers, issue a fob to a new tenant, or remove one when someone moves out — all yourself, in seconds. You only nee
d to call us for hardware faults, extra doors, or a system upgrade.
What happens if someone loses their fob or card?
The lost credential is deactivated through the admin software in seconds, so it can’t be used to enter the building even if found. A replacement fob or card is issued at minimal cost. For higher-security premises, we recommend mobile credential systems where there’s no physical card to lose.
Does access control still work if the power or internet goes out?
Yes. Access control systems we install include battery backup, so doors keep working during short power cuts. Fail-safe locks default to unlocked for emergency exit; fail-secure locks default to locked for higher-security zones. We’ll agree the right setup per door during your survey. Internet outages don’t affect day-to-day use, since permissions are stored locally.
Can access control work with my existing doors, or do I need new ones?
In most cases, your existing doors can be retrofitted with maglocks, strikes or electronic deadlatches without door replacement. Heavy fire doors, older timber doors and some glass doors may need additional bracketing or alternative hardware. We assess each door during the survey and recommend the least intrusive option for your premises.
Can I use fingerprint or face recognition entry at home?
Yes. Biometric readers work well on a front door, gate or apartment entrance — one less thing to lose or forget. A single home needs no extra paperwork to install one. For shared or multi-occupancy buildings, we’ll talk through data storage and consent during the survey, since landlords and managing agents have different obligations to a private household.
