Many Rugby homeowners combine their alarm with home CCTV installation in Rugby for visual verification when the alarm triggers.

Areas We Cover

We install and service domestic intruder alarms across Rugby, Warwickshire and the wider Midlands. Our engineers live locally rather than commuting from a single office, so most surveys in Rugby (CV21, CV22, CV23) can be booked within a week.

We regularly work in Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, Daventry, Southam, Lutterworth and Coventry. Our typical domestic radius extends to around 25 miles from Rugby town centre. The villages we visit most often for alarm installation and servicing include Bilton, Hillmorton, Long Lawford, Dunchurch, Clifton-upon-Dunsmore, Crick, Kilsby and Thurlaston.

Outside that radius? Give us a call on 01788 535752. We travel further for commercial alarm contracts across the Midlands and can usually fit a domestic alarm survey in at the same time.

Alarm Grades Explained

UK intruder alarms are designed and certified to the European standard EN 50131, which sorts systems into four grades based on the risk level of the property. Choosing the right grade matters because most home insurance policies specify a minimum grade as a condition of cover.

Grade Risk Typical Property
Grade 1 Low Sheds, garages and outbuildings
Grade 2 Standard Most homes in Rugby, CV21, CV22 and CV23
Grade 2X Higher-spec Detached homes, rural properties, higher-value contents
Grade 3 Commercial Small businesses, retail units, offices
Grade 4 High risk Banks, jewellers, armouries, high-value commercial

For most Rugby homeowners, Grade 2 is the right level. We install Grade 2X as standard for larger detached homes, rural properties around CV23, and any property where the insurer requires it.

Small Business Intruder Alarms

If you run a small business in Rugby, your commercial insurance policy almost certainly requires a professionally installed intruder alarm to a minimum grade. Most policies for shops, salons, offices and trade units require Grade 2X or Grade 3, with optional Alarm Receiving Centre monitoring depending on stock value.

We regularly install commercial intruder alarms for:

  • Independent shops and retail units across Rugby and Bilton
  • Salons, barbers and beauty studios in CV21 and CV22
  • Trade units and workshops on industrial estates around Rugby and Daventry
  • Small offices, dental practices and serviced workspaces
  • Cafés, takeaways and small restaurants

Every install includes the certification paperwork your insurer needs, and we can take over and re-certify existing systems from previous installers. For larger commercial premises or multi-site portfolios, see our dedicated commercial intruder alarm installation service.

Alarm Takeover Service

Inherited an alarm from a previous homeowner? Paying a monthly subscription to a national provider and want to switch to a local installer? We can take over and re-certify almost any UK intruder alarm system.

Our alarm takeover service covers:

  • Subscription systems from Verisure, ADT and similar national providers
  • Inherited alarms where the original installer is unknown or no longer trading
  • Older wired systems including Texecom Premier, Pyronix Enforcer, HKC and Honeywell
  • Smart systems that have lost their original installer support

A typical takeover includes: a full site test, panel reprogramming with new user codes, replacement of any failed sensors or keypads, optional Alarm Receiving Centre monitoring with contract terms tailored to the job, and fresh SSAIB certification for your insurer.

Timing depends on the existing system. There’s no obligation to switch if you decide the current arrangement works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will an intruder alarm reduce my home insurance premium?

Many UK home insurers offer modest premium reductions for professionally installed, SSAIB-accredited alarm systems. The exact discount depends on your insurer and the grade of system installed. More importantly, an SSAIB-installed alarm strengthens any future claim and is often a requirement for higher-value contents cover.

What’s the difference between a monitored and unmonitored alarm?

An unmonitored alarm makes noise on-site to scare off intruders and alert neighbours. A monitored alarm additionally signals an Alarm Receiving Centre, which verifies the activation and dispatches keyholders, response services or the police. Monitoring adds an annual or monthly cost but significantly increases response speed.

Will the police respond if my alarm goes off?

Police response in the UK requires the alarm to have an active URN (Unique Reference Number), issued only to monitored alarms installed by SSAIB or NSI accredited companies that meet sequential confirmation requirements. Standard bells-only alarms don’t get police response. We can set up URN-eligible monitoring on request.

How often does an intruder alarm need servicing?

SSAIB-accredited systems should be serviced annually as a minimum. Monitored systems often require six-monthly servicing to remain compliant with insurer requirements. We offer annual service plans across CV21, CV22 and CV23, with reactive call-outs typically within 24 hours.

Can I keep my existing wiring if I upgrade my alarm panel?

In most cases yes. If your existing detectors and cable runs are in good condition, we can replace just the panel and keypad while keeping the existing wiring. This is typically a half-day job and significantly cheaper than a full rewire. We’ll assess the existing system during the free survey.
