Many UK home insurers offer small premium reductions for professionally fitted, SSAIB-accredited alarm systems. The exact discount depends on your insurer and the grade of system installed. More importantly, an SSAIB-installed alarm can strengthen any future claim and is often needed for higher-value contents cover.
What’s the difference between a monitored and bell-only alarm?
A bell-only alarm makes noise on site to scare off intruders and warn neighbours. A monitored alarm also sends the signal to an Alarm Receiving Centre. The centre checks the alert and can contact keyholders, response services or the police. Monitoring adds an annual or monthly cost, but it can speed up the response.
Will the police respond if my alarm goes off?
Police response in the UK needs an active URN (Unique Reference Number). This is only issued to monitored alarms installed by SSAIB or NSI accredited companies that meet the police rules for sequential confirmation. Standard bell-only alarms do not get police response. We can set up URN-eligible monitoring on request.
How often does a burglar alarm system need servicing?
SSAIB-accredited systems should be serviced once a year at least. Monitored systems often need a service every six months to stay in line with insurer rules. We offer annual service plans across CV21, CV22 and CV23, with reactive call-outs usually within 24 hours.
Can I keep my existing wiring if I upgrade my alarm panel?
In most cases, yes. If your detectors and cable runs are still in good condition, we can replace just the panel and keypad and keep the wiring. This is often a half-day job and much cheaper than a full rewire. We check the existing system during the free survey.
